good quality restaurant serving fancy French cuisine. A nice place for that special evening and if your not the kind of person who likes to eat a hearty meal !!! quite expensive and nothing has changed in fifteen years!

Technically, very competent food - certainly nothing to moan about. Personally, I find the surroundings and service a little austere - enough to make me feel uncomfortable. I'd eat the food without hesitation but would go elsewhere to relax over a meal.

Entering Almunecar we parked our car in front of El Chaleco to ask for hotel directions and finding a place to do lunch. Directions we got. More importantly we enjoyed a great lunch with good value for our money. Being Dutch is it great to be greeted in our own language (or Flemisch to be precise). The Belgian owners prepared and serviced us an excellent lunch and gave us a great start of our Andalusian holidays. Check out El Chaleco when you are in the Almunecar region. You will not be disappointed.

My favorite restaurant on the entire coast, El Chaleco, is located in Almunecar. Run by Belgians, it is the most consistently excellent dining spot around. More than once I have gone in and not even looked at the menu. “Just bring me whatever you want. I know it will be good.” The menu is small, but superb. Salads are made from greens straight from the owner’s garden. Everything is homemade. Specials reflect what is fresh today. The food, atmosphere and service are of top quality.

Excellent restaurant, one of the better eating experiences in Almunecar. International menu and wine. Definitely worth a visit for the adventurous food, good surroundings and friendly service. Verry high quality food and wine.

We never normally venture up this area of town, at the end of Av Costa del Sol, Costa Banana is not the prettiest of zones but this restaurant was a real treat. Excellent service throughout, we were made to feel like special guests and the food was excellent. One of the sadly few really top quality restaurants in Almunecar. Deserves a regular visit.
